TEHRAN – The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a strong denunciation of the recent military operations conducted by the United States and the United Kingdom against Yemen, labeling them as “barbaric.” These attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous individuals, including innocent women and children.
In a statement released on Sunday, Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the military actions by the US and UK, asserting that they constitute a clear breach of the UN Charter and a fundamental violation of international laws governing the use of force, as well as respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, the Iranian spokesman urged the United Nations and the UN Security Council to fulfill their obligations in addressing these violations that threaten international peace and security.
He described the coordinated military actions by the US and UK against Yemen’s population as part of a broader agenda that supports Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people while undermining efforts to uphold their rights and solidarity.
Baqaei asserted that the ongoing violence and occupation in Palestine are the root causes of instability in West Asia, fueled by the unwavering support of the US, UK, and various Western nations, which has compromised both regional and global peace and security.

He called upon governments, along with international and Islamic organizations, to recognize their legal and moral duty to stand against genocide and ethnic cleansing occurring in occupied Palestine. This includes actions that impose starvation and famine on the Palestinian people, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
In related developments, US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday a comprehensive series of attacks on Yemen after Houthi forces threatened to resume operations against Israeli-associated vessels in the Red Sea, in response to Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
The offensive commenced on Saturday and extended into the early hours of Sunday, targeting multiple locations including the Yemeni capital Sana’a, as well as areas in Saada, Al Bayda, and Radaa. According to health ministry spokesperson Anis Al-Asbahi, the attacks have resulted in 31 fatalities and 101 injuries, with a significant number of the casualties being women and children.
