TEHRAN – A tragic incident unfolded late Saturday when airstrikes executed by the United States and the United Kingdom resulted in the deaths of at least 31 individuals and injuries to 101 more in Yemen, predominantly impacting residential neighborhoods.
Strong condemnation has emerged from Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, which has vowed to retaliate and has linked the attacks to Israel’s ongoing blockade of Gaza.
Reports indicate that US and UK forces targeted multiple sites across Yemen during the night, with significant civilian casualties reported in the aftermath.
Citing sources affiliated with Ansarullah, Al Jazeera reported that at least 31 individuals lost their lives and 101 were wounded as a result of bombings that hit heavily populated regions.
Local reports detailed that American and British fighter jets struck locations in Dhammar, situated north of Sanaa, along with areas in Saada province in northern Yemen. The Wall Street Journal also confirmed that an American airstrike on Houthi leaders’ residences in the capital resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people.
This attack occurs against a backdrop of rising regional tensions, with Israeli media suggesting possible involvement from Israel. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) subsequently released videos asserting that the airstrikes were aimed at Houthi military assets.

In response, Yemen’s Ansarullah movement condemned the strikes, with spokesperson Mohammed al-Bukhaiti labeling the action as unjustified. He emphasized, “The US aggression is baseless since our military efforts are directed against the Zionist entity.” He further warned of a forthcoming forceful response, underscoring, “Our commitment to support Palestine and resist America remains unshaken, regardless of the consequences.”
The Supreme Political Council of Yemen echoed these sentiments, promising retaliation and affirming that the assaults would not weaken the nation’s backing for Gaza. “Attacking civilians merely underscores America’s frailty. These acts of aggression will enhance our determination,” stated the council in an official declaration.
In an escalating situation, religious leaders in Yemen have proclaimed that opposing the US and UK incursions is a religious mandate. The Yemeni military is reportedly gearing up for a significant response to these acts of aggression.
As tensions mount, a US official informed Reuters that the airstrikes on Yemen might persist for several days or even weeks, sparking further apprehensions regarding an expanding conflict in the region.
